Which stripping method is best suited for your fine wire?

1. Introduction
Stripping processes are used to remove insulation materials such as enamel, plastic, or rubber from wires or cables to expose conductive surfaces. Depending on the material and application, different methods are applied. This report compares three common techniques for enameled fine wires: Laser stripping, chemical stripping, and mechanical stripping.
2. Methods Overview

3. Advantages and Disadvantages

4. Application Examples
Laser Stripping: Microelectronics, medical devices (e.g. catheters), aerospace
Chemical Stripping: Industry, coils, motors, transformers, standard cable and wire processing
Mechanical Stripping: Industry, coils, motors, transformers, standard cable and wire processing
5. Conclusion
Laser stripping is characterized by its precision, versatility and high degree of automation, but is somewhat more expensive to purchase than other methods. It is therefore primarily used where consistent, high-quality results are required, large quantities are needed or where other methods fail.
Chemical stripping methods are cheaper to purchase but more complex to handle. It is also difficult to scale up for larger quantities and automation options are limited. They are therefore more suitable for small batch sizes.
Mechanical stripping processes are suitable when accuracy is not critical. However, it should be noted that mechanical abrasion can damage the conductor surfaces and lead to increased tool wear. It is only suitable for thinner fine wires to a limited extent.
